Paddle Reveal

December 1st we had our last sorority chapter of the year. After all the reports were given and the senior send off was complete it was time for paddle reveal! I couldn't wait to see how hard my little had worked to create a paddle for me that I'll have for the rest of my life to look back on. Paddles have been a tradition in greek life for a long time, however they used to be for different purposes back in the day, luckily they are now just cute gifts for decoration. I personally can't wait to show mine off outside my bedroom door when I live in the Kappa Delta house next school year. On the back of my paddle my little took the time to modge podge it with a collage of pictures of us as big and little.

Here is my adorable family after paddle reveal. I was so excited to the see the paddle that my new twin made for my big as well, her's is the green one (That is actually the back of it showing). After all the excitement we all went out for frozen yogurt to celebrate.

Turkey Day 2014

This year's Thanksgiving was one to remember. With being away at college and constantly being busy it's easy to forget just how much you miss home. I rarely go home due to the fact that I hate driving and I have so much going on with classes and Kappa Delta. It was nice to finally get home after sitting through hours of traffic and sit down and just breath. I left all homework and books at school, so that I could focus on family and myself for once. Thanksgiving day was filled with tons of food, most of which I brought home with me. I was able to catch up with my step dad's side of the family as well as my brothers and of course my mom and step dad. Mom and I managed to take a cute selfie too.

Each morning I was woken up by our overly hyper Australian Shepard, Nova. We spent hours playing fetch. He couldn't help but jump on everyone's lap during Thanksgiving lunch, only because he wanted to give everyone kisses.

Over all, this year's Thanksgiving was nice and relaxing. Plus I finally got to catch up on some extra sleep. Tell me what you all did for Thanksgiving this year! Did anyone go Black Friday shopping?

Being a Leader in Your Sorority

One of the main reasons I decided to join a sorority in the first place was to gain leadership experience and to put my self out of my comfort zone. As a new member I was hesitant at first to take on a leadership position for fear that the older members would not respect me or care to listen to my ideas.

It all began with taking on three small, what we call Appointed Officer positions, these are essentially positions under each member of our council. I was the Intramural Chair, a member of the Personal Presence Committee during recruitment, and a SET Leader.

Intramural chair was something that I quickly realized was not for me. Although it was minimal effort and easy to handle, I am just a sports minded person. However, it did teach me social skills from texting and e-mailing members of other greek organizations to partner with us for sports. It also required time management so that I could fit in all the games. Here is a picture with my favorite fraternity that we played with. Plus we won that game!

Personal Presence Chair was probably the most enjoyable position I took on as a new member. Myself and two other girls along with the Vice President of Membership, chose and ordered the attire that we would wear during fall formal recruitment. This required time management to include several meetings and planning. We placed bulk orders with companies and had to do research on what would make us the top in clothing during the recruitment period. I've included my favorite outfit which includes a philanthropy tee that we designed and ordered as well as white skinny jeans and brown wedges.

A SET Leader in my sorority was someone who helped teach and mentor the new members. We were required to make presentations with important information that new members were required to learn. I was held to a higher standard because I was now a role model to these new girls and they were watching my every move.

I just recently received a position on the 2015 council for my sorority as Vice President of Membership Education. Lord knows I could go on and on about this position and what it entails, so I'll save that for another day.

If there is any advice that I could give to a new member in a sorority it would be to get involved, whether it be holding a position or just going to events. Get out there, meet other people and try to have a good time! After all that's what it's for!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
AOT to all my Kappa Delta ladies out there!

Hello lovely readers and welcome to my blog!

I thought the best first post would be to tell you all a little about my self and what this blog is all about.

For starters my name is Lauren and I am an undergraduate sophomore at a university. I am studying Accounting while taking required classes for optometry school as well. I understand that what I'm studying sounds like such an odd mix, however Accounting is essentially my back plan if I do not make the required grades to make it into optometry school.

I come from a small town down south, however I'm not the most country girl out there, but I do love my country music, cowgirl boots, and tailgating.

I am also a member of Kappa Delta Sorority where I have held several small leadership positions as well as I just received the title on our 2015 council as Vice President of Membership Education. I will be doing a post shortly all about my leadership experience in Kappa Delta as well as other fun ideas and topics about sorority life.

My plan for this blog is to be a place where I can talk about life as college student and offer advice to those about to attend school or currently in school. Feel free to ask any questions or request any specific posts!

Have an amazing Thanksgiving!

Here is a picture of myself on the left with brown hair the other women is my dearest big, Megan.
